Abuja — The Senate Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem as Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Twenty seven others were also confirmed as members of the commission to represent their states.
Among those confirmed were, Alhaji Dahiru Bobbo (Adamawa), Barrister Mathew Ukpong (Akwa Ibom), Musa Nikaf ( Kaduna ), Amb. I. J. Sagay (Delta) and Alhaji Sule Iyaji (Kogi).
Also confirmed were Alhaja Sadat Onimole (Ogun), Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan (Niger), Muhammadu Ari Gwaska (Nasarawa), Peter Ekhator (Edo), Mr. Adebayo Aremu Williams (Lagos) and Alhaji Mai Aliyu Muhammed (Yobe).
The Senate has also confirmed the appointment of Rafiu Lawal-Rabana (Kwara) and Lady Debbie Obodoukwu-Iregbu (Imo) as members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission (NJC).
Meanwhile, the Senate has embarked on three weeks recess to commemorate this year's Eid-el-Maulud celebration and the Easter holidays.
In a goodwill message to Muslims all over the country, Senate President David Mark enjoined them to emulate the sacrifices of Prophet Mohammed in order to improve the society.
The Senate is expected to resume plenary on Tuesday, April 8, 2008.
