Harare — About 20 youth groups met in Harare last week to form a coalition to spearhead advocacy work towards achieving Millennium Development Goals within the National Coalition framework.
The National Coalition includes the Government and the National Association of Non-Governmental Organisations, among others.
The Young Knights' communications and advocacy manager, Miss Rudo Mazhandu - who also represents the youth coalitions at the national level - said the meeting sought to form a coalition that would partner Government in conscientising youths through training workshops about MDGs and how to adopt a participatory approach. "The aim of the coalition is to make sure the youths are aware of the MDGs and that their voices are heard and respected by policymakers," she said.
Miss Mazhandu said the youths would be adults in 2015 when the MDGs are expected to have been met and should, therefore, be answerable for the failure to do so.
