Modou Jonga — Senior Magistrate E.F. M'bai of the Brikama Magistrate Court has on Monday,17 March, 2008, acquitted and discharged Mr. Nfamara Bojang, the UDP candidate for Bakau constituency in the January 2007, National Assembly Election, on a two count criminal charges.
The Presiding Magistrate noted that only two prosecution witnesses so far testified in the case. Magistrate M'bai said the case has dragged at the expense of the court. He, thus, accordingly acquitted and discharged Mr. Bojang on the two criminal charges. Mr. Bojang, who was previously discharged by a previous magistrate, Buba Jawo, of the said court, was arrested few days after being nominated by the IEC on 6 January, 2007, to contest for the Bakau Seat in January, 2007 parliamentary polls.
He was detained for few days before being arraigned in court on 10 January, 2007. The two count criminal charges, of which Mr. Bojang is acquitted and discharged, are conspiracy to commit a felony with one Abubacarr Suwa at Busumbala in January, 2005 and being in possession of forged currency notes in January, 2005 at the Coastal Road.
