Tanzania: Regions Face Ban From Crucial TFF Meeting

Three mainland regions face a possible ban from attending the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) general meeting later this month after failing to submit new draft constitutions in line with the soccer body's directives.

TFF secretary general Fredrick Mwakalebela said the regions- Tanga, Mtwara and Kigoma- had not yet responded to the body's directive to all regions to submit new draft constitutions, as a result the regions would be excluded from the crucial meeting.

Failing to attend the meeting may have serious consequences for the regions since they would not be recognised as bonafide members of TFF, and also considering that most of the issues to be discussed will bind for all league teams in all regions.

"There has been no clear effort or commitment by the regions to complete the draft constitution that was directed by Fifa.

"And should it remain like this we will not allow the regions to the general meeting that takes place from March 29 to 31, this year," said Mwakalebela.

Other regions that have submitted their documents, according to Mwakalebela, will have to meet 'certain conditions' before they are allowed.

He, however, cited special cases like Manyara region that will be allowed to use old constitutions and be represented by former leaders and not interim committees, as a result of problems between the two interested parties.

The region had been given three more months to solve the problems and submit the documents. Mwakalebela could, however, not disclose the problems.

Meanwhile, the TFF second vice-presidency post will remain vacant following consensus by 13 Vodacom premier league officials not fill the post.

The post, currently held by Jamal Bayser in acting capacity, fell vacant after its former holder Ismail Aden Rage of Moro United was jailed a few years ago over funds misuse.

Mwakalebela said yesterday all club representatives agreed not to fill the post during a meeting held recently in Dar es Salaam.
