Officers of the Angolan Armed Forces stationed in the 1st military region were called to flock into HIV/AIDS counselling and testing centres, in Uíge city, in order to know about their infection state.

The appeal was made Friday by the Miss Angola 2008, Lesliana Pereira, during a workshop about "The danger of HIV/AIDS for the country's development", designed for militaries of the Angolan Armed Forces stationed in that region.

According to the Miss Angola, the impact of the disease demands that everyone play their part in combating and voluntary testing is the first step, since it helps in avoiding infections.

Lesliana Pereira urged the militaries to become activists and sensitise the population on the dangers of this epidemic disease.

Condoms and information posters were distributed during the event.
