Jigawa State Government has said it would collaborate with Niger Republic to fight Fulani/Farmers clash in their common borders.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Governor Sule Lamido said this at the palace of the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Mohammed Sani while playing host to the Governor of Dosso Region in Niger Republic.
Lamido added that the state would join hands with Dosso, Niger to fight polio, cholera and other communicable diseases.
He explained that this had become necessary because Nigeria and Niger Republic have common borders and share cultural norms and values.
Lamido thanked the Governor of Dosso for the visit to Nigeria to witness the celebration of Maulud and Easter festivals.
In his speech, the Governor of Dosso, Malam Ibrahim Belko disclosed that the President of Niger Republic Alhaji Tanja Mamadu had
pledged to strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
Belko added that a committee was inaugurated in his country to address the Fulani/Farmer clash in the common borders just like the one formed in Jigawa State.
The Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Sani, expressed happiness at the visit of Governor Sule Lamido and his counterpart Malam Ibrahim Belko from Niger Republic.

He said the people of his emirate were the same with the people of Niger Republic before the colonialists divided them.
He was referring to one part as Nigeria and the other part as Niger Republic.
A special Durbah was organised for Belko who was on a four-day working/familiarization trip to Jigawa State at the palaces of the Emir of Hadejia and the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Adamu Maje and Alhaji Mohammed Sani respectively.
