A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Lagos, The Nucleus Group (TNG), has commended the stateGovernor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, for ridding the state of filth, flood and beautifying open spaces.

Its Patron, Honourable Bosun Jeje, who gave the commendation in a statement at the weekend, said the group is aware of Fashola's efforts to make the environment look green through massive landscaping and beautificationprojects. Jeje said, "our group has chosen to commend the governor because, though we are non-political, but we areinterested in supporting good governance.

We know thegovernor is doing well in quite a number of areaslike health, transportation, infrastructure andeducation.

"But we have chosen to commend him on theenvironment, because they are legacies that will outlive his administration and will eventually add to the beauty of the state and enhance general hygiene and well-being."

The group's spokesperson who said the body hasoutlined a lot of activities to support theadministration, said "it is a thing of joy that aside the enormous landscaping and beautification works going in all open spaces, we have experienced quite a number of rainfalls now and we have not had the usual flooding problem.

That is as a result of serious drainage clearing and canalsdredging that had been done in the last few months," he said, and urged Commissioner of Environment, Dr Muiz Banire, to continue with the pace.
