Angola's Foreign Affairs minister, João Miranda Sunday here said that the four-day official visit being paid by the North Korean official to the country is of "extreme importance" for the strengthening of friendship, solidarity and promotion of cooperation.

The Foreign Affairs minister said so at "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, whilst welcoming the president of the Presidium of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Yong Nam.

According to the official, Angola and Korea have always been together, and the strong political difficulties that occurred during the last years were not enough to disunite this common solidarity.

On his turn, Kim Yong Nam recognised the successes achieved by the local government and the Angolan people, which according to him, "were capable to put an end to the armed conflict and obtain a lasting peace, stability and move towards national reconstruction".

The visit agenda states that the North Korean official shall be received, on Monday, in an audience, by the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, and also by the speaker of the National Assembly (Parliament), Roberto de Almeida.

The foreign delegation will meet with an Angolan delegation, to be led by the prime minister, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, with whom they discuss issues of bilateral interests, in light of the reinforcement of cooperation and friendship ties.
