Asmara

A four-day regional conference on the 'Role of Trade Unions in Regional Integration in Africa' is scheduled to open here in Asmara next Monday.

The preparatory committee disclosed that the conference, in which a number of workers' representatives from over 12 countries will take part, is organized by the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW) in collaboration with the Trade Union Federation of Eastern Africa (TUFEA).

According to NCEW, the conference will help to reinforce the Confederation's endeavors to promote workers' productivity, resolve conflicts in the workplace and protect the rights of workers in all aspects, as well as enhance the all-round development of workers.

Moreover, the Conference will acquaint the participants with the ongoing national development drive and the active role Eritrean workers are playing in these endeavors. It will also provide an opportunity to them to witness that Eritrea is an island of peace in the African continent.

TUFEA, which was established in Khartoum in 2003, strives to foster partnerships among workers organizations and strengthen ties with the International Labor Organization (ILO), among others.
