The Primate of the United African Methodst Church,(Eleja) Sagamu, Ogun State, Rt. Rev. Tewogbola Bola Alemu has urged President Umar Yar'Adua to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians through human-faced programmes.

Rt. Rev Alemu who spoke yesterday in Abeokuta, at a Special Prayer for the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Isola also urged Nigerians in positions of authority not to use their positions to enrich themselves.

Instead, Alemu said those privileged few Nigerians should find a way of alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians which he said was becoming unbearable.

The cleric reminded them that the positions they occupy today was a test by God and they will give accounts of their stewardship before God at the appointed time.

"They know what to do to better the lots of Nigerians. They know the problems Nigerians are facing. They live with us and they should not pretend that they don't know our problems. We are really suffering

"For us as a people, scarcly can you go to any part of the country and enjoy functional light unless you make alternative power supply. This is bad for the country, economically and socially. The government should move fast.

"In some towns, there no water. In some towns there is large insecurity. You can't sleep with your two eyes closed; robbers, cult members may come knocking. This is not good for us as nation".
