Senate President David Mark has pledged the National Assembly's co-operation with the executive arm anchored on the principle of consultation and collaboration.

He assured that federal lawmakers would not compromise the independence of the legislature, in order to facilitate the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people.

In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh, Mark assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would uphold the sanctity of the separation of powers and the rule of law.

He said that such mutual respect was needed to firm up the tenets of democracy in Nigeria.

The Senate president urged Nigerians to co-operate with the present administration as partners in the Nigerian project.

Mark assured that the National Assembly would continue to make laws that would address the yearnings and aspirations of the citizenry.

"The task of improving the lot of our people, ensuring peace and security, will be our major pre-occupation in years ahead," he said.
