A philosopher once said that if things were to ever move forward somebody must take the risk and assume the responsibility.

This is exactly what the newly signed coach of the Liberia National football team Mr. Atoine Hey has begun to exhibit in a bid to improve the performance of the national team and soccer in general in the country.

The coach who is on record for telling the BBC Fast Track Sports that he would continue to hold consultation with the Liberian sporting populace including one of Liberia's best footballer ever, Geroge Weah for guidance in his sojourn.

Recently, a friendly soccer match was arranged by football authorities for the Lone Star to travel to Sudan for a friendly football encounter against their Sudanese counterpart in Khartoum this Wednesday.

The friendly is intended to beef up the Lone Star preparation efforts for the African Cup of Nations final slated for Angola in 2010 and the World Cup qualifying rounds, which is set for Johannesburg, South Africa also in 2010.

Meanwhile, the newly signed on German coach for Liberia has drawn up a mini work plan to strengthen the team's preparation in the pending African Cup of Nations preliminaries round against Gambia in May this year and for the World Cup qualifying rounds.

Several foreign based players from Liberia were invited to form part of the friendly against Sudan but reports received by our sports desk said most of them have reportedly turned down the request to join in the line up on grounds that they are finding it difficult for their clubs to release them.

To date there has been no official comment from the Ministry of youth and sports regarding the inability of the players to show up.

Our Photo Editor Kennedy Zobah who was at Roberts International Airport (RIA) last weekend to see the team take off to Sudan, observed that several local based players in high spirit waiting to board a flight for the countdown.
