Huambo — A new cholera cases was diagnosed in the past 24 hours, at the disease's treatment centre, in Huambo city, raising to 37 the number of cases registered since last February 29.
The municipal head of the department of public health and control to endemic diseases, Vicente do Assunção told ANGOP this Monday that although there was this increase the number of deaths remains at ten.
The source added that at the moment five patients have been hospitalised at the Cholera Treatment Centre, where they are received intensive medical assistance.
According to the health director, the only case in the last 24 hours was registered in Macolocolo ward, outskirts of Huambo city, a region that registered 11 deaths in 2007.
Vicente de Ascenção also referred that, in 2007, the district of Huambo registered 867 cholera cases, which claimed 43 lives.
