Eritrea: 31st Anniversary of the Liberation of NACFA Town Marked With Patriotic Zeal

24 March 2008

Nacfa — The 31st anniversary of the liberation of the town of Nacfa was marked yesterday with patriotic zeal. Speaking at the gathering in which the Minister of Justice, Ms. Fawzia Hashim, other officials, Army commanders and thousands of residents took part, the Administrator of the Nacfa sub-zone, Mr. Idris Ali Sheker, outlined the heroic exploits demonstrated in liberating the town and noted that the day reminds us all to renew our pledge to honor the trust of our martyrs.

He went on to explain that once Nacfa was liberated, all enemy attempts to reoccupy it ended in utter failure and, as such, Nacfa symbolizes the Eritrean people's steadfastness and dedication.

Different sports competitions, cultural shows, poetry recitals and songs highlighting the steadfastness and heroism of the EPLF freedom fighters were featured from March 19 to 22, thus adding color to the event.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the modernization process in the town is gaining momentum thanks to the implementation of major development programs.
