Guzang Fon, Gwan Mbanyamsig III, has been tipped as the likely successor of Fon Chafah at the helm of the North West Fons Union, NOWEU.

Some Momo Fons, who spoke to The Post on condition of anonymity, declared this and questioned the commitment of his rival, Fon Teche- Njei, Fon of Ngien-Muwa, who is the other aspirant to NOWEFU leadership.

The Post learned that the rival Fons contending the NOWEFU leadership are at daggers drawn with allegations of murder attempts. The conflict between the two men began when armed men attacked the Fon of Guzang and shot him in the right hand at his Foncha Street residence.

A confession purportedly made by one of the attackers and slipped under the door of late Crispus Assi accused Fon Teche of masterminding the attacks. The two villages of Guzang and Ngien-Muwa were on the brink of war when NOWEFU reconciled them. The "cease fire" collapsed when Fon Teche, after soliciting the support of Mbanyamsig to become Section President, lately broke his promise to let the Guzang Fon go in for parliament.

Since then their relationship has been likened in vulgar language to that between kerosene and fire.Meanwhile, Momo Fons have accused the Ngien-Muwa Fon of abandoning contracts awarded to him to construct schools in Momo.

They also claimed it would degrading that a third class Fon ruling a village of less than 1000 people to be allowed to lord it over Fons with 40 times that population.Fon Mbanyamsig affirmed the above accusations, arguing that the Fon of Ngien-Muwa is a self-seeking individual.

He said the Ngien-Muwa Fon was the first to prostitute the Ntumfor title, which was given to Nico Halle, by creating fake Ntumfors in Momo with the intention of lining his pockets.

Fon Mbanyamsi also faulted the Fon of Ngien-Muwa for his over zealousness demonstrated by the near single-handed decoration of Northwest Governor, Abakar Ahamat.

Fon Teche's mammon-like tendency, Fon Mbanyamsig said, was exhibited by his single-handed control of FCFA 2 million share of AIDS money given to Momo. "Guzang never received a frank of the money despite the fact that it is the largest village in Batibo. Fon Teche, who is Momo East CPDM Section President, was also indicted for trying to head NOWEFU which is apolitical

Responding to some of the accusations, Fon Teche said there was no clause in the constitution which forbids even a 10th class Fon from becoming NOWEFU President.

He equally argued that Fon Abumbi II of Bafut, NOWEFU pioneer President, is a member of the CPDM Central Committee. He however failed to reply to the other accusations levelled against him.
