CHAIRMAN of the Conference of Political Parties (CNPP) in Delta State, Comrade Emmanuel Igbini, yesterday, condemned alleged plans by some persons indicted in the ongoing probe of the $16 billion power sector scam by the House of Representatives to assassinate the chairman of the Committee, Hon. Ndudi Eluemelu and his members.
In a statment, yesterday, in Warri, Igbini, who was the governorship candidate of the PRP in the April 2007 general elections said, "It is with greatest sense of sadness and shock that I reecived the media report on alleged plans by some indicted Nigerians and their foreign cohorts to attack or murder Hon. Elumelu and his committee members over their ongoing probe of the outright stealing of $16 billion budgeted by the PDP-led Federal Goverment for power generation in nigeria between 1999 to 2007.
"I strongly condemn this evil plan and wish to strongly warn these plotters of the dire consequecies of this plan on our national peace and security if any of such evil and unpatriotic plan be carried out against our dearly beloved Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and his patriotic members of the committee for caying out this national and patriotic assignemnt, meant to restore accountability and national economic development in line with the PDP Vision of 2020."
"There is no doubt that given the revelations so far in the five-day public hearing of the committee, the facts point clearly to the PDP-led Federal Government as the main perpetrator and ultimate benefiaciary of this monumental fraud and stealing of public funds. Former President Obasanjo, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, late Chief Bola Ige, Gov. Liyel Imoke, CBN Governors, and all Mininsters of Finance and Power from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2007 are culpable until they prove themselves otherwise, which they have not convincingly done till date", he said.
In his word: "Should any negative thing happen to Hon. Elemule now or in the near futrure, we shall hold all these above named persons responsible and the PDP-led Federal Government under President Yar'Adua.
May I also state clearly for the records that the entire people of Delta State and the Niger Delta region in general would not fold our hands any more and watch our sons and daughters who attempt to patriotically ensure and defend the peace, unity and progress of our nation, Nigeria, be murdered or punished.
The state sponsored murder of our great sons like Isaac Adaka Boro, Ken Saro Wiwa, Mr. Dele Giwa of Newswatch to mention but a few, are still fresh sad memories in our minds."
" I, though a member of the PRP fully appreciate and commend the Delta State PDP for having such a great Deltan and Nigerian like Hon. Elumelu to carry out this great and difficult patriotic assignment for the overall interest of our nation.

I call on President Yar' Adua to ensure and guarantee maximum security and safety of the lives of Hon. Ndidi Elumule and his commttee members if the much needed peace in Delta State and Niger Delta region is to be guarnteed.
"President Yar'Adua should provide all necesary security as he gave to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu of the EFCC. Hon. Elemelu, though a member of the PDP, but, by Section 66 of the Nigeria Consititution, he is now a House of Respresenative member of the National Assembly of all Nigeria and not PDP. His loyalty must remain to Nigeria first and foremost and above any other interest, including the PDP.
He is also carrying out the constitutional responsibility of oversight funtion of the National Assembly, as stipulated in Section 88 and therefore not on a personal mission, as they (looters) want Nigerians to believe.
