Cameroon: To Believe or Not to Believe...

Within the last couple of days, an email is being forwarded to the boxes of some Cameroonians by their friends and family. It is difficult to trace the original source of the message. But the content is of utmost importance: a possible eruption of Mount Cameroon and its ensuing consequences. The tone of the note is urgent and, to say the least, scary.

In the present communication era, characterised by an abundance of junk on the Internet, should one take such a message serious? And what if all what is written in the mail turns out to be true? The question therefore is: to believe or not to believe? Maybe our scientists of the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation should let us know the veracity of the information.

What ever be the case, one thing is certain. The mail should serve as a cursor for those in charge of civil protection to be on the alert. For, Mount Cameroon remains an active volcano and should be monitored closely by all those in charge. For, a stitch in time will always save nine.
