Harare — Tapiwa Marozva, an afro-jazz artist who touched the hearts of many jazz-loving fans with his debut album Tariro, is crying foul over at the snail's pace at which the wheels of justice are moving in his dispute against Fabian Mwanza.
The case, in which Marozva is accusing Mwanza of taking possession of his musical instruments without permission, has been pending for nearly two years. "It's very disappointing that I have been in and out of courts and police stations since 2006, but nothing has come out of it yet. "What pains me most is that Mwanza has been teaching aspiring artistes using my instruments, yet I never got anything from the proceeds even though I am ailing and have to meet medical bills," said Marozva.
Marozva is suffering from a malfunctioning spinal cord, bladder and kidneys. "I hope justice will be done so I can recover my instruments," said Marozva. The instruments at the centre of the legal dispute include an electric guitar, two guitar amplifiers, microphones stand, three microphones and three audio cables. They are valued at an estimated $80 billion.
