After adopting constitutional changes, the Zanzibar Football Association ( ZFA) is now faced with an acute shortage of funds recruit its new secretary general and treasurer who were previously appointed and paid by the government.
The changes which were initially bitterly opposed by the Isles ministry responsible for sports, have since been blessed by the Zanzibar Sports Council (ZSC).
"We won't advertise the posts soon because we don't have reliable sources of funds to pay the two officials. We are bound to utilize the services of the two State employees for a while," said ZFA vice-president Hadji Ameir.
He admitted that because of financial constraints, ZFA will wait until its finances stabilises to employ the secretary general and treasurer although this contravenes the recent resolution by the Confederation of African Football passed in Accra, Ghana, last February.
The Zanzibar Sports Council has ratified and adopted the soccer body's constitutional changes that have also waived powers of the ZSC to resolve soccer disputes here.

ZSC chairperson Sherry Khamis said the proposed constitutional changes have already been forwarded to the Zanzibar Ministry of Information, Culture and Sports for approval.
Once the minister responsible for sports, Ali Juma Shamhuna, has approved the changes, the next step will be to publish the changes in the Government gazette and thus terminate the services of government-salaried staff in ZFA.
Presently, members of ZFA executive committee are confused on how best to handle the situation after the two government appointed staff cease to work for the soccer body. Apart from the two top posts, the government also pays ten other employees working for ZFA.
