A teacher of the United Methodist Church primary school at Kangama town in the Ngorama Chiefdom Kono district is in police custody for allegedly having sexual intercourse with an eight year pupil.

Police say Musa Kallon has been arrested and detained for unlawful carnal knowledge but assured that the matter would be charged to court as soon as the evidence is enough for prosecution.

The victim, a class three pupil of the same school, claimed that her teacher sexually assaulted her in one of the form three classrooms.

The matter was initially reported to the Kangama police station but was later transferred to the Motema police station because of its seriousness.

A police medical form has been issued to the victim for medical treatment while Kallon is in custody helping the police in their investigation.
