As we are preparing the youth U-17 squad for the continental competition, the success of Sierra Stars few years back as runners up in the Nation's cup and automatically qualification to the World Cup is still in the memory of football fans including me.

Reflecting on what was the secret to their success, one may think that it is because they got a discipline and good coach and also the players were committed and determine to prove themselves, which they did.

The performance of the entire technical squad, including the players has made the nation proud and has also portrayed a good image of the country.

With all this past glory, where are the players we were expecting to form the base or the nucleus of the national team at this pointing time? The answer is, they are no where.

Instead of these players represent the green, white and blue flag in Finland they focused in getting missing in camp which they succeed in down, and now they are crying to play for the national team after making false allegation about the country.

What I am trying to derive at here is we must, this time round try to maintain these boys to the highest level, because the future of our national team lies from this stage. I believe that this particular team will set another pace like the others did in Swaziland.

However, I implore the Sierra Leone Football Association, SLFA, to maintain the present squad of Sierra Stars especially those players like Donald Wellington, Chandos, and other.

These players must be encouraged and kept in close contact with one another so that they will make the country proud again in subsequent competitions.

This can be achieved by ensuring that their entitlements are paid regularly and friendly matches are organized for the young Stars to further strengthen the team's cohesion.

Also, politics must not be allowed to consume this new squad, as has always been the case each time a team attains global status.

The status of the coach, Christian Cole must also be looked into as a professional and he must be given all what is necessary in building the capacity of the boy's.

If these can be done, the team will, no doubt, prove itself in the up coming competition and even become the best in the world of football.
