UPDF golfer Flavia Namakula has been named on Uganda's team to the All Africa Challenge Trophy in Cairo, Egypt next month.

Namakula beat Kabale-based teenage caddie Melon Kyomugisha in a hard-fought playoff to earn her first cap and join the three-woman Uganda national team.

Monica Ntege (h/c 7) and Eva Okatch (h/c 7) are the other players from a squad of 10 that was trained by South Africa based Ugandan professional golfer Norah Mbabazi.

Uganda Ladies Golf Union (ULGU) president Alice Owori is team manager.

"This is the best team we chose through a very competitive and open process. We considered skill, experience, mental strength and the future of golf in this country," Owori remarked.
