Blogs have been attracting more Kenyans in recent months, especially during the recent outbreak of violence following the release of disputed presidential election results last year.

A blog or weblog, is a personal online journal that is frequently updated and is intended for general public consumption.

Similar to the written diary, the blog usually represents the personal views and opinions of its authors.

In the case of a company blog, the information carried often reflects the nature of the business that hosts the blog and includes up-to-date information on the company.

Across the world, more companies are taking up the blogging concept as a new avenue for interactivity with their clients.

Evidence that the popular global trend is catching on with Kenya's Intern et community is apparent. Out of the top 100 websites visited in the country, eight are blog sites.

Interest in Kenyan blogs rose sharply in January as violence rocked parts of the country.

The ban on live news broadcasts led to the mushrooming of Kenyan blogs dedicated to getting the news to the public as quickly as possible.

It appears that interest since then has not waned, and the blog is becoming a favoured method of communication for everyone from the Government to private companies.

Technology companies were first among Kenyan firms to start slowly incorporating blogs into their official communication to their customers alongside e-mail .

According to new research, it is now a trend employees may want to pursue - you could literally blog your way to a new job.

The blog is now becoming an extension to the CV, an opportunity for job applicants to let employers have a more all-rounded view of their qualifications for a job.
