The club will loose its leadership position should Cotonsport win against Aigle of Menoua today.
By pulling a one-all tie with the University of Ngaoundere last Sunday, Canon has seriously compromised its chances of winning the championship title this year. With the draw which is the second in a row, Canon now has 34 points, barely one point ahead of their immediate challenger, Cotonsport of Garoua. Should Cotonsport therefore win in the late day 18 match against Aigle of Menoua, the colossus from the North will once more come from behind to lead the MTN elite one championship.
Should this happen, it will be a repeat of the situation last season when Tonnerre animated the championship during the first leg, only to be overtaken by Cotonsport in the return who eventually topped the championship.

Another remarkable feature of day 18 action has been the reawakening of Tonnerre Yaounde. The TKC Boys edged Sable of Batie 1-0 even without using the Liberian strikers recently recruited to revamp the squad. This victory has moved Tonnerre one position up the classification table from the 16th to the 15th position while pending the outcome of the match between Lion Ngoma and Fovu.
While Tonnerre seems to be on the upward trend, their brothers of Canon seem to be losing steam, raising fears among supporters that, the team will be unable to make it until the end of the season t the helm of the championship.
On the look out during Day 18 delayed matches will be to see whether Cameroon's representatives in continental competitions, will be able to perform as well as they did in the various continental competitions given that they have les time to rest and recover than their opponents who weren't involved. Such will be the case of the fratricidal war between Mount Cameroon of Buea and Tiko United. Mount Cameroon has an axe to grind with Tiko United having been beaten in the away leg by their newly promoted brothers to the first division. The other match will be Astres versus Esperance.
