Gibairu Janneh
In Sheriff Minteh's murder trial, a police officer told the court that upon arrival at the scene near an auto mechanic garage, he saw a boy lying on the road side beside Dodou Boy, the accused, but when he asked Dodou Boy why the boy was still lying on the ground, he (Dodou Boy) did not answer the question. The police officer, one Kalilu Sanneh, was testifying as the 7th prosecution witness, in the ongoing murder trial of Dodou Janneh (alias Dodou Boy) for the murder of Sheriff Minteh.
The witness told the court that when he told the boy on the ground to get up, he responded that he could not get up because Dodou Boy had stabbed him. But defense counsel, Mr Jobarteh objected on the ground that this statement was hearsay. After contesting this for a while, the prosecution concurred with the defense that the statement was hearsay. The effect is that the statement - Dodou Boy stabbed me - cannot form part of the witness' testimony.
Sub-inspector Kalilu Sanneh, a prison police officer, attached to the state Central Prison Mile Two, also told the court that while he was patrolling London Corner with a task force for the Serrekunda area, they suddenly came to a junction where they met a lot of boys sitting down; that when the boys recognized the police vehicle they all dispersed and the officers in the vehicle followed them. He said within a short while, the officers returned except Dodou Boy. He said he then asked his men about the whereabouts of Dodou Boy and they showed him the direction that Dodou Boy had taken. Sub-Inspector Sanneh said he then followed the direction and found Dodou Boy and some other boys but he did not know those boys standing near an auto mechanic garage.

PW7 then said that, at that juncture, somebody came who claimed to be the brother of the boy. He said they then looked for a taxi and told the brother to take him to Serrekunda police station and then to the Serrekunda health centre. He said at that time Dodou Boy was kept in another compound because all the boys in that area came out saying they will kill him. He said he then called for reinforcement from the Serrekunda police station and they were able to remove Dodou Boy from that compound to Serrekunda police station.
PW7 then said that from the Serrekunda Police Station, he proceeded to the Serrekunda Health Centre to see the victim but upon arrival at the health centre, he found the ambulance taking the victim to the RVTH. He said upon his return to the Serrekunda police station to continue his patrol, he later heard that the victim was dead.
He was then cross examined by lawyer Lamin Camara who asked him whether the accused person is a policeman but he replied in the negative.
