Luanda — A verbal process aimed at revitalising the bilateral commission, so as to reinforce the cooperation in various fields, was Tuesday here signed by the governments of Angola and of North Korea.
ANGOP learnt that the document was signed by the Foreign Affairs ministers of Angola, João Miranda, and of North Korea, Pak Ui Chun.
According to the final communiqué, both parties expressed their satisfaction at the level of friendship and cooperation relations and underlined the need to boost and diversify the economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
Priority will be given to the sectors of health, civil engineering, public works, agriculture, science and technology, trade and industry, as well as adjusting the legal framework of the current cooperation to the reality of the two countries.
Both parties noticed that since the signing of the economic and technical cooperation agreement in 1977, the bilateral commission only met thrice, having analysed issues relating to the health sector. After these meeting, the number of North Korean physicians working in Angola has been increasing.
According to the same communiqué, both parties have acknowledged that the difficulties being faced by both countries over the last years have hindered the implementation of agro-industrial projects and others of great impact in Angola.
Official talks between the two delegations were opened on Monday by the prime minister of Angola, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos and by the head of the visiting team, Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the Supreme Assembly of the Democratic People's North Korea.
Kim Yong Nam and his delegation, in Angola since Sunday for a four-day visit, were received in an audience by the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.
