More than 700 kilometres of roads have been rehabilitated in northern Uíge province by Angola's Roads Institute (INEA), part of the Central Government's Special Programme on Rehabilitation of National Roads.

During an interview to the Angolan News Agency (Angop), the provincial governor, Bento Cangulo, said that the province of Uige is one of the main beneficiaries from roads rehabilitation project, outlined in the past years by the Central Government.

Bento Cangulo stressed the works on Dange/Uíge/Negage, Uíge/Maquela do Zombo/Quimbata, Negage/Lucala and Negage/Sanza Pombo/Quimbele/Sacandica roads.

The provincial governor spoke of recovery works on route between Dange river towards Uije city, starting from Kifangondo locality (Luanda), passing through Caxito (Bengo). He added that the works on this road are in an advanced stage and they are scheduled to end next June.

According to Bento Cangulo, the key objective of Angola's Roads Institute is to repair the road network, which most of it has been damaged, in order to ensure inter-provincial connections.
