Kuito — Two cleared fields, which were previously mined with explosive devices, were handed over to the district administration of Katabola, in south Bié province, by the British NGO "The Hallo Trust".
The demined fields are located at Uyue and Camuxito villages, at Katabola district, and according to the NGO's operations chief, José Pinto, they were very dangerous for the population.
In those fields, with an area of 59,837 square metres, nine antipersonnel mines, 10 antitank and eight other non-specified explosive devices were deactivated.
During the ceremony, Katabola's administrator, Gabriel Hisse expressed his satisfaction, stating that the area will allow serve for farming.
