Prime Minister-designate Raila Odinga, will push for equal sharing of ministries with PNU.

Speaking at Nairobi Sports Club on Wednesday, he expressed optimism that talks with President Kibaki would resolve the stalemate.

"I neither want to pre-empt nor jeopardise the talks, but I would like to see fairness to reconcile the country and foster unity," he said.

Elsewhere, ODM MPs want President Kibaki and Raila to name the Cabinet as soon as possible.

In statement read at Parliament Buildings, Mbita MP, Mr Otieno Kajwang', he said the delay was creating anxiety.

"This procrastination in the appointment of the prime minister and Cabinet is a grave assault on the Constitution. It is not conducive to peaceful and democratic governance," said Kajwang'.

He warned that the delay could lead to chaos. Kajwang' said other than the office of the President, the Vice-President and the Prime Minister, others fell vacant following the enactment of the constitutional amendment and the National Accord and Reconciliation Act. "It is not in the public interest that the country continues to be governed without a legitimate Cabinet," he added.

The MP declared that Raila was no longer a Prime Minister-designate, but the legitimate holder of the seat after the amendment of the Constitution.

"His appointment by the President is technical and ceremonial," said Kajwang'.
