CONCERNED Parents' Association, an umbrella body of parents whose children were abducted by the rebel Lord's Resistance Army in Lango and Acholi, has received $550,000 (sh927m)

The Mennonite Central Committee and European Union gave the money to the organisation to train communities on how to co-exist with former abductees.

Ben Porter, a representative of the donor body, said the parents would also be trained in basic counselling, crisis management and gender-based violence.

He explained that the project that ends in 2009 would be undertaken in the districts Kitgum, Pader, Oyam, Apac, Lira, Gulu and Amuru.

The association's branch manager in Gulu, Phillips Lutara noted that formerly abducted children fear staying with the communities due to stigmatisation.
