OVER 25 experts have been trained in business development strategies by the International Trade Centre. The six-month training was funded by the Centre for Promotion of Imports from developing countries.

It was organised by the Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB).

It was attended by exporters, traders, aspiring exporters, trainers of trainers, academicians and managers of small-and-medium scale enterprises.

Florence Kata, the head of UEPB, said she hoped the participants still had the passion for developing and implementing export strategies.

"This is because our strategy is export-led growth and this is after a long time when exports were discouraged in a buyer's market. Please, infect other possible export professional advisers who can compete internationally.

"The exercise is good for academics and it is time to see more people going into export by choice with expertise. We want goals like tripling of exports, raising turnover to $5b. Be proactive and not just wait for your learning to die here," she said.
