Tatitown police are investigating a case in which a 56-year-old Guyanese man is charged with threat to kill after allegedly trying to ambush his Motswana girlfriend on March 8. Jocelyn Lambert is said to have been arrested last week for the charge.

Detective Assistant Superintendent Collar Baakile said that Jocelyn Lambert has already appeared in court. "At the moment he has been granted bail," he said. Police sources say that the Guyanese man, who is married to a Guyanese woman, was having an affair with the Motswana woman he allegedly threatened to kill.

Allegedly the complainant told the police that she was not aware that the man was married at the time she was dating him but when she found out the truth she tried to end the affair. Lambert is said to have threatened to kill the girlfriend, Gosetsenna Mogotsi, after she tried to curtail the affair. The charge sheet quotes the accused as saying: "We are only two people here and people have told me where you work, I am going to wait for you on the road and I know the time you are knocking off duty, there is going to be blood on the street of Kgaphamadi, I am going to kill you."

Lambert, who came to Botswana as his wife's dependant, lives with his wife at Mater Spei College where she is a teacher.Bacilli said when arrested the Accused was found in possession of a knife. Police investigations are continuing.
