Botswana: 'Nothing Will Work Unless We Do'

Gaborone — It is really boring to hear people always complain about not being given chance to improve themselves. I want to say this now, today and for records, you are the only person responsible for your success, so stand up and be productive for the world is waiting for you to take action.

We all know that it is hard to get where we want to be emotionally, financially and professionally. But working hard and going extra mile towards what we want to achieve is the only way we can reach our goals. Emotional stability and money would not drop from the sky; we need to make an effort to acquire them.

There is a need for both men and women to do it for themselves and not to rely on anyone else for their own happiness. In this era of self-empowerment, each and every one of us has a responsibility towards ourselves, financially, emotionally, sexually and spiritually. The key to real success is independence and making the choices that are necessary to enrich our lives. Let us tap into our own strengths and be our own best friends. If you consider yourself responsible for your life why should you sit back, relax, always complain and await things to happen to you? We must wise up and get the best out of ourselves. Every individual has been showered with unique talent, strength and we must invest in these things.

It is issues of helplessness that this article is trying to address. Most people are dependent on the government, handouts and favours from other people in their lives. Take a journey, travel through different aspects of your life and find out how each is affecting you. Remember, relying on the government and other people for your own happiness and achievements is going to limit you to only what they have and know.

Dependency is toxic and should be dealt with and you better take initiative as an individual. Do not bother yourself about fear and insecurity for these are never subjects to reason. They fuel themselves into unfounded realities. Nothing changes until the subconscious changes.
