Barely two months after Bingi Nite Vibes Productions (Pty) Ltd stormed the entertainment industry, the company has continued to offer a platform for entertainment bliss designed to promote local talent.

Bingi Nite Vibes Productions, a Botswana registered entertainment company, has been running the Karibu-Tena Garden at the Tlokweng border gate since the beginning of February this year.

Already the Garden has played host to several successful live musical concerts by bands such as Jah Revelation, Tears of Africa, Stepping Razor, Ras Judah, Jahman States and the Sheppard's Band, Vital Sounds from Letlhakane and DT.

According to co-director of the musical outfit, Dan Kapambwe, the company arranged a variety of concerts as part of the Black History Month last month. The series of events culminated in a live concert on March 1.

"From a place that didn't have life at all, Karibu-Tena Garden, under the Bingi Vibes management, has come to life both during the day and night," Kapambwe, aka Ras Anada, said in an interview.

The music presented at the Garden is nothing but phenomenal as it caters for all types from Reggae to Kwaito, house to R & B, Afro Jazz to old school, Kwasa Kwasa to rock/pop, Zambian music to calypso, among others.

This music is played mostly on CDs by young and old talented DJs. Most of the live music is provided by Bingi Vibes Studio band, which is the resident band. Of special interest are Sundays, which used to be dull. But the scenario has completely changed with so much entertainment for the individual and entire family available at a reasonable cost.

Bingi Vibes have in fact introduced free Afro Jazz live and traditional music shows, with emphasis on promoting new local talent. The Easter Sunday show was particularly exciting and acted as a prelude of what music lovers should expect in the coming Sundays.

Sista Bee, an upcoming and talented Motswana, presented her album, which she recorded in Zimbabwe. Currently, the album is being played on some radio stations. Lakidibe traditional dance troupe, the latest sensational traditional ensemble on the market, also featured.

Patrons were split between watching the Chelsea versus Arsenal game on GTV, another entertainment facility available at the Garden, and the Lakidibe Dance troupe, which was really a marvel to watch.

This act is expected to be a permanent feature every Sunday. Also billed to appear on the Sunday shows, particularly the first and last Sundays of each month is the magnificent Shumba. He is lined up for two performances on March 30 and April 6. Performances are expected to start at 3pm till late. Sista Bee and the Bingi Vibes Studio band will share the platform as they churn out Afro jazz vibes.

Ras Anada has meanwhile invited all artists and bands interested in performing at the garden to get in touch with him or his marketing manager for inclusion on the programme for the first and last Saturdays of the month and periodically on Sundays. "Interested artists and bands are welcome to use the venue and facilities such as musical equipment at mutually agreed conditions," he said. Ras Anada disclosed that the 27th Memorial Concert for the legendary Bob Marley will be one of the main events to be organised at the same venue on May 10.

"Two bands from Zambia and Zimbabwe are expected to spice up this concert in addition to the various local reggae bands that are expected to participate. The list of artists to participate in this concert is still very much open and not just restricted to reggae artists. "Therefore, artists and bands keen to participate are most welcome and can contact either me or the music section personnel. You may recall that one of the most successful Marley Memorial Concerts to be held in Botswana was held at the Gaborone Civic Centre Community hall last year and was organised by Bingi Vibes Production".

Ras Anada said plans are also under way to host a talent search concert at the garden for local artists from all music genres with prospects of signing on the outstanding performers for recording contracts at the Bingi Vibes Studio in Tlokweng. Further plans are being mooted to introduce one day a week or month for an artists' get-together-concert involving all arts, from music to drama and poetry.
