AFTER a season of gloom as the pitch underwent a massive renovation, there were finally some smiles as action on the ultra-modern synthetic turf got underway at Lugogo.

The biggest smiles at the end of the three-day tournament were however from Kenya's top side Green Sharks who lifted the Easter Hockey Trophy after walloping Makerere University Business School hockey team 5-1 in the finals.

Clad in their traditional green jerseys, the Sharks led from the start with the scoreboard reading 3-1 at the interval. MUBS' lone strike was through captain Benard Bwire.

The fast-moving Kenyans scored two more in the second half through Tony Nyakuru and John Wagira as Green Sharks registered their fourth successful win over Ugandan teams.

Uganda's Weatherheads (ladies) and Bugema (schools) were the other winners.
