The dates for this year's junior Zone V basketball Championships have been changed.

According to the latest reports from FIBA-Africa, the continent's basketball governing body, the tournament has been moved from April to May although no clear reason has been established for the change. "An email from Fiba indicated that the tournament will now run from May 20-27 but the venue (Kampala-Uganda) still stands," the technical advisor of the local basketball governing body Innocent Karuhije noted.

Meanwhile, the provisional national junior team entered residential training last Friday ahead of this competition.

The 20-man squad which is currently residing at Versina Motel in Kibagabaga is undergoing two daily training sessions at Amahoro indoor courts.
