Monrovia — Amidst reports of constant arm robberies in Monrovia and it environs, a mutilated body of an unknown woman was discovered in a mangrove swamp in the SKD Boulevard Community Wednesday.
The Boulevard is located in Oldest Congo Town outside Monrovia.
According to residents, the body was discovered by two boys who went on a fishing expedition during the early hours of Wednesday.
The residents said upon finding the body, several parts were missing.
A male resident, who reportedly assisted the police to get the body onshore, indicated that several body parts including a breast were removed.
He said the body had lacerations and a deep cut on the buttocks, suggesting that she was brutally murdered.
Another report gathered on the scene established that the woman was not a resident of the SKD Boulevard Community, but her body was dumped in the nearby swamp.
It was also observed that the body might have spent more than a day in the swamp as evidenced by the offensive odor.
A woman identified as Edith, who claimed to be the Community leader interposed serious obstructions while our reporter was trying to gather details surrounding the mysterious death of the woman.
In an apparent angry mood, Edith, with a group of youth prevented our reporter from taking photos of the body, claiming that the Civilian Police of UNMIL instructed community members not to grant interview to the media or allow photo-taking of the body.
