Angola: Electoral Commissions Decide On Voters Registration Updating

The Inter-Ministerial Commission for the Electoral Process (CIPE) and the National Electoral Commission (CNE) will meet this Thursday, here, to decide on the details of updating voters registration, to be held from April to May this year.

Speaking to ANGOP, the co-ordinator of CIPE, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira said that the statistics of this institution in charge of preparing the legislative elections, show that at least 350,000 people to be registered during the electoral registration updating phase.

Citizens, who did not register themselves during the normal period, as well as those who will turn 18 years old until the date of the forthcoming legislative elections, schedule for next September.

For the updating phase, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira urged the civil society to participate in awareness campaigns, through NGOs, churches and other social partners of the government.

This time, the registration will be promoted by municipal and communal administrations.
