After three days of a fiercely-contested justify your inclusion exercise, the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has selected its national male and female team for the African Juniors and Cadets Championship scheduled for April 3-13 in Alexandria, Egypt.

In a release signed by the Secretary General of the GTTA, Kwame Amponfi Jnr, the selection was done according to the rules of African Juniors and Cadet Championship after the justifier which took place at the Hathiramani Sports Hall last week, at the Ohene Djan Stadium. The following players make up the team: Obuobi Dorothy(Central Region), Asafo Adjei Gloria(Eastern Region), forming the Cadet girls team.

The male team comprise of Akayade Samuel(Eastern Region) and Asante Emmanuel, also from the Eastern Region.

In the Junior girls category, Borquaye Bernice(Ghana Armed Forces,Navy) Takoradi, Ketu Akosua(Central Region), Kwabi Cynthia(Ghana Immigration Service) and Ampah Adjoa Comfort form the team.

Mensah Philip (Central Region), Abrefa Derek (Ghana Immigration Service), Lartey Felix(Ghana Immigration Service), and Baba Jebrila of Central Region make up the boys squad.

The officials are Owusu-Ansah Anthony, Head Coach, Addo-Owusu Joseph, Assistant coach, while Yaboi Emmanuel is the umpire.

In all, an 18 member contingent comprising of 12 players,two Coaches, an umpire and two delegates, as well as a leader of the delegation will represent the country in the forthcoming competition. Meanwhile, camping is underway at the Sports Hall in Accra and barring any unforeseen circumstances, the team is expected to depart for Egypt on April 3.

The GTTA is therefore appealing to corporate bodies and individuals to throw their financial weight behind the Black Loopers ahead of the competition.
