National soccer team Bafana Bafana on Wednesday made South Africa proud when they beat Paraguay 3-0 in an international friendly played at the Super Stadium in Atteridgeville.
Wednesday night's match forms part of both country's preparations for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
According to the City of Tshwane spokesperson Console Tleane, the match was an excellent test for the city to tests its ability to host successful world cup matches.
"As a city, we have passed the test and we will continue to work with other relevant stakeholders in soccer," said Mr Tleane.
"We are succeeding in our planning for the world cup, and we hope are in the right direction," he said.
Tleane told BuaNews that the city is a sporting city, it has previously hosted big soccer events such as the ICC Cricket World Cup and that proved its readiness for hosting the world cup.
According to SA2010, the South African Senior soccer team handed Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira his second successive victory in just over a week.
The South African squad included striker Benni McCarthy, who indeed made the country proud with his contribution.
Mamelodi Sundowns' Surprise Moriri opened South Africa's account in the 30th minute after connecting a cross from Thepo Masilela and spectacularly blasted past Paraguay's goalkeeper Justo Villar.
McCarthy, made the score 2-0 in the 47th minute when goal scorer-turned-provider, Moriri, sliced through the Paraguayan wing to pick him up, the Blackburn Rovers target man wrestled two defenders to head pass the goalkeeper.
The 30-year-old Mr McCarthy banged his crown goal for Bafana to overtake retired Shaun Bartlett and become the leading national team scorer with 30 goals.
Mr Bartlett, who was seen among the fans, could only watch as the lanky Cape Town-born Mr McCarthy outplayed two defenders to grab Bafana's all-important goal.
Kaizer Chiefs' Simphiwe Tshabalala scored his first goal in the South African colours to make the final score 3-0 to South Africa.

His goal took the Paraguayan goalie by surprise. He lobbed a seemingly harmless ball into the back of the net in the 63rd minute.
The City of Tshwane is one of the nine host cities of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Stadium in Atteridgeville, the HM Pitje Stadium in Mamelodi and the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve will thus become hubs of development and investment in their respective areas.
