An unidentified body of a girl believed to be 23 years old was found yesterday in a swamp at the Sankermore community on the SKD Boulevard in Paynesville in a decomposed state.
Reporters who went on the scene yesterday were prevented by the community leader, Edith Wilson, from taking pictures and even getting any information relative to the incident, saying, "I did not call the media."
She accused journalists of being suspicious and that if they do not leave the area where the body was found, she would have no alternative but to call the police.
A neighbor who preferred anonymity who attempted to take the photo of the corpse was arrested and handcuffed by some personnel of the Liberian National police (LNP). He was however later released after series of pleas made by some members of the community.
According to one of the community dwellers, the body was found in the swamp and that the girl's private parts were extracted. He said the dead girl who was dressed in a red blouse and black skirt, was found with her legs tied.
Some members of the community said that it is impossible to kill someone in that community without anybody hearing screams, while others said she might have been murdered in an unknown place and her body allegedly deposited in Sankermore community.
