The Inter-ministerial Commission for Electoral Process (CIPE) and the National Electoral Commission (CNE) started Thursday a cooperation in various dominions for the preparation of legislative elections.

It was announced to press, in Luanda, by the coordinator of CIPE, Virgílio Fontes Pereira, at the end of a meeting with CNE chairperson, Caetano de Sousa, in which he presented the difficulties that the organ is facing in order to better execute its tasks.

"With this meeting, we wanted to find out the needs of CNE at the moment in order to help it leading the electoral process and assessing the possibilities that the Government has to pay possible assistance that was requested", he said.

According to Fontes Pereira, the needs presented by the chairperson of CNE have to do with the lack of premises to host the provincial voting stations and warehouses to accommodate the logistic and transport means.

Other concern deals with lack of information on mapping, so that CIPE can check and catalogue the data about the sites where the voting stations will be based.

"Apart from these worries, it is also noticed the shortage of human resources. So, we think that CNE will make use of recruits and electoral agents that had already worked on the process", said Fontes Pereira.

He stressed that next week, CIPE will present proposals to CNE. The deputy provincial governors will head the contacts at the highest level with the other part, aimed at defining the operative and technical strategies.

"It was the first step for what will be the joint walk, led by CNE, in the preparation of the electoral process", said Virgilio de Fontes Pereira who is also the minister of Territory Administration. To him the Angolan Government is ready to help resolving the problems presented by CNE.

The meeting was attended by deputy provincial governors who deal with the electoral process, the coordinators of provincial executive commissions and representatives from the ministry of Territory Administration.
