Luanda — The second general commander of the National Police for Protection and Intervention, Eduardo Manuel Mingas "Panda" Thursday here called on the Border Police (PGF) to upgrade their combat methods, foreseeing the legislative elections set for next September.
"The Border Police, in the light of strategy defended by the general command of the National Police for the legislative elections, are urged to upgrade, more and more, the methods of combat, improving the technical and professional levels of officers, increasing moral and civic education, as well as the preparation of staff", said the top police officer whilst addressing the opening ceremony of PGF's consultative council.
Everyone needs to redouble efforts in tasks of rebuilding the country, considering the current period Angola faces.
Commissioner Panda added that the Border Police, as an organ that guarantees the protection and security of national borders, plays an important role in the consolidation of public peace and in the maintenance of inviolability of the territorial space.
The National Police chief also explained that this meeting is an excellent opportunity to reflect on the current state of the national border security in different aspects and later to consolidate the already used efficient strategies.
The second general commander told participants to analyse issues relating to border crimes, illegal immigration, trading of human, goods, diamonds and cattle, as well as vehicle theft, poaching, among other criminal phenomena that currently threaten the national economic stability and good social habits.
Scheduled to end on Friday, the event will discuss topics related with the situation of borders in Angola, the process of disarming citizens illegally owning firearms, control of border villages and population and the analysis of the organic regulation project of the Training Centre of Ambriz, northern Bengo province.
