THE Pearl of Africa Uganda rally due next month is poised to regain its pedigree following a $40,000 (sh67m) boost from Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).
KCB managing director James Agin announced the offer at the launch of the rally at Nalugala Jomayi racing circuit near Entebbe yesterday.
Agin flagged off drivers Ronald Ssebuguzi, Patrick Oling and Laila Mayanja to mark the launch of the rally, a departure from the monotonous 'dummy cheque launches'.
"Kampala residents gave KCB a good reception for which we are very grateful. We are now giving back to the people by supporting sports especially motor rallying," Agin remarked.
KCB will inject in an extra $20,000 to televise the rally on South Africa-based pay TV SuperSport and local televisions.

Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda president David Bitalo, organising committee chairman Jack Wavamunno and clerk of course Kisitu Mayanja were among the officials at the ceremony.
The organisers, whose budget is $80,000 (sh130m) will unveil co-sponsors to cover the budget deficit.
The event, the second round of the Africa Rally Championship, will start with a super special stage on April 25 ahead of the second and third legs in Mityana on April 26-27.
