Kenya: Games - St John's Kaloleni Closer to a Fifth Straight Title

Defending champions, St Johns Girls Kaloleni, inched closer to winning a fifth straight Coast Province secondary schools hockey title when they whipped Murray Girls 4-0 in their second match as the Coast term one games entered day two at Kenyatta High School Mwatate Thursday.
St Johns, who had beaten Chumani 2-0 in the opening match, were in great shape scoring two goals in each half to carry the day by topping pool A. In another pool A match, former champions Matuga Girls High School beat Murray Girls 2-1.
Other girls' hockey matches saw Kilindini Secondary beat Chanagande 2-0, Bura Girls beat St Charles Lwanga 4-0 before beating Chanagande 4-2. Kilindini and Franz Joseph drew 0-0. In the boys' matches, Shimba Hills made sure of a place in the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over St Charles Lwanga.
In other boys' hockey matches, St Georges drew 1-1 with St Charles while defending champions Kilifi Township hammered Mazeras 4-0.
In basketball, Shimo La Tewa stayed on course for the Coast provincial secondary schools boys basketball title when they hammered Kenyatta High School Mwatate 70-34 to top pool A at Wundanyi Stadium as the games entered day two.
In other boys' basketball matches, Kenyatta defeated Barani from Malindi 44-48 while Dr Aggrey beat Waa Boys 32-28 in over time. Timbila beat Lamu Boys 24-21, Taru beat Barani 48-35 while Dr Aggrey beat Lamu Boys 37-21.
In girls' pool B matches played yesterday, Mwasere beat Mbaraki Girls 43-05, Jaribuni from Kilifi beat Kinango Secondary 31-26 while Mwasere girls beat St Johns 40-24.
Hot favourites
In pool B, Shimba Hills and Changamwe made sure of place in the boys basketball sem-finals after winning their second matches Thursday. Shimba Hills, who together with Shimo and Changamwe are hot favourites for the title, used a second string side to beat Sokoke 58-48 after leading 34-30 at the break.
Changamwe on the other hand came from behind to beat St Georges Secondary 68-54 . Changamwe had earlier beaten Sokoke 80-56 in the opening match to increase their chances of making the final four.
In girls pool A matches, defending champions Mombasa High beat Bura Girls from Taita District 69-28 after leading 37-20 at the break.

In sevens rugby, defending champions Kwale High beat Malindi High 19-0. In other matches,St Bartholomew beat Shimo LA Tewa 12-07, Waa Boys beat Mazeras High 34-0,St Bartholomew beat Barani 7-0 while Dr Aggrey beat Kenyatta 41-0.
