Former Green Eagles and Leventis United Ibadan left winger, James Etokebe has backed his former international team mate, Stephen Keshi to grab the Eagles coaching top job.

Speaking from his base in Oslo, Norway, Etokebe said his decision to support the former Super Eagles captain to take over from Berti Vogts as Eagles' head coach is because of Keshi's wealth of experience as a footballer and coach over the years.

"Of all those looking for the Super Eagles job, I find Keshi as the most suitable at the moment. He is now mature enough to be the head coach of Nigeria, having assisted Dutch trainer Bofere Jo and Amodu Shuibu some years back," Etokebe began.

"I played along side Keshi at the 1984 Africa Nations Cup finals in Cote d'Ivoire. He was a cool headed captain of our Green Eagles team who exhibited good leadership qualities as a player and now he has used Togo's National team to prove he is a good coach," the ex-Calabar Rovers player said.
