Liberia: USAID Provides Workshop Vehicle To Public Works

Monrovia — The United States Government through the U. S Agency for International Development and the Liberia Community Infrastructure (LCIP) program has handed over to the Public Works Ministry a Toyota Land Cruiser Mobile Workshop Vehicle.

Speaking during the presentation Monday at the main offices of the Ministry, the Acting Mission Director of USAID Madam Lucretia Taylor said the delivery is part of a larger package of equipment support provided through USAID LCIP to the Ministry over last one year with a total value of over US$2. 1 Million.

She said donation includes four wheel drive pickup, spare parts and tires, pressure washer, cordless power tools, and amongst others.

She noted that during Match 2007 MOU with the government of Liberia USAID of the following road maintenance, equipment, three caterpillars brand motor graders, two caterpillars' wheel loaders six international dump trucks amongst other.

She pointed out that due to the bad road conditions in Liberia, many of the critical vehicles are located in remote rural areas working on rural roads and it is costly, time consuming an inefficient to transport the large road maintenance equipment back to Monrovia for servicing.

She furthered said that the unique mobile workshop is capable of carrying the Ministry's technicians, mechanicals, and their mobile workshop tools to the rural worksite.

According to her Liberia's road are critical to national development, which continues to be supported by the United States, the gesture is evidence of the continued commitment to the Liberian people by the people of the United States of America through USAID Liberia Community Infrastructure Program for use Liberian Ministry of Public Works.

Meanwhile, Liberia's Public Works Minister Lusinee Donzo expressed thanks and appreciation to the U. S Government for the level of support render to the Liberian government especially his ministry.
