AFTER impressing on his debut against Libya, Cranes left back Sam Ssenoga has lost his place to Police FC's Lawrence Ssegawa.

The KCC defender, who was rated the team's best performer by coach Laszlo Csaba when Cranes drew 1-all with Libya on Wednesday, has failed to secure a passport on time, forcing Csaba to replace him with Ssegawa.

"It's sad that we are going to miss his (Ssenoga) services. He proved a good player but he cannot travel because he has no travel documents," Csaba said.

Ssenoga initially told the technical committee that he had never got a passport but records at the immigration indicate he had already obtained one. Csaba is convinced Ssegawa is a good replacement.

"Ssegawa is equally good. He has experience and since his recovery he has been doing well at his club," Csaba said.

Ssegawa has just recovered from a knee injury that kept him out of action for a full year.

The Cranes team that is strictly composed of locally based players departs this morning aboard Kenya Airways. They face Eritrea tomorrow in the first leg of the inaugural African Nations Championship.
