Eritrea: Development And Distribution of Renewable Source of Energy Showing Encouraging Outcome, Says UK Researcher

Dr. David Wolford, a UK researcher, said that the development and distribution of renewable source of energy in Eritrea, especially the introduction of modern oven, is showing an encouraging outcome vis-à-vis improving the living standard of the people and promoting sound ecology.

While conducting research on the activities being undertaken in Eritrea, Dr. David Wolferd visited different villages that became beneficiaries of renewable source of energy, including Zager, Geshinashem, Zigib, Adena and Grat Gebru. He said that the introduction of modern oven and other solar-generated energy facilities have improved the standard of living of the respective inhabitants, in addition to playing due role in reducing air pollution and tackling desertification.

Dr. David said that the objective situation in Eritrea was beyond his expectation and that he was impressed with the prevailing peace and security in the country.

The Administrator of Zigib administrative area, Ms. Shashu Gebru, indicated on her part that the local inhabitants have now refrained from using firewood in their everyday living as a result of the introduction of user-friendly modern oven.

Over 60,000 modern ovens have been distributed over the past years in different parts of the country, according to reports.
