The ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) is reportedly making inroads in Kailahun district where the party was unable to win a single parliamentary seat during the 2007 elections.
APCs constituency chairman in Kailahun district Ensah Jajua recently told Concord Times in Kailahun that town chiefs of the districts, including Lansana Wonneh have invited him to witness their declaration for the party at Gbor-Bugao.
Jajua stated that the chiefs made it very clear that as chiefs they were supportive of the government of the day. There are indications that the APC will make substantial gains in the local council elections, he said.
He said the reconciliation approach which the party has embarked on is wooing lots of people into the party. We are extending an olive branch to all those that hurt us during the past elections in the district. This approach has yielded positive results.
The reconciliation is gaining grounds, he said.
On the issue of Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) supporters crossing over to the APC, Jajua said SLPP members are joining his party in droves day after day.
Some are declaring their support for the party secretly, while others are doing it openly. As you can see this is Abu Lavali. He is from Mano Sewa Ward 7.
He contested in the last local council elections as an independent candidate but he has now switched over to the APC.

He assured the public that he has been receiving positive reports from his executive members across the district, adding that their aspirant who has declared to contest the locals chairmanship, Solomon Musa, is very popular within the district.
Jajua pointed out that the SLPP does not pose a serious threat to the APC in the forthcoming elections.
Acting publicity secretary of SLPP Ibrahim El Tayibb Bah when contacted for his party reaction was not available for comment.
